Best Lesbian Erotica 2012, selected & introduced by Sinclair Sexsmith

I’m so excited to announce that I am the guest editor for Best Lesbian Erotica 2012 published by Cleis Press and edited by Kathleen Warnock—and here is the amazingly hot cover!

It is due out in December 2011 and it has a fantastic line-up of well-written, gender-smart, dirty, smutty, hot stories (which are very queer, not just lesbian).

I’m sure you’ll hear endlessly about this volume as we get closer to publication, but in the meantime the best thing you can do to support it is to pre-order it on Amazon as Amazon takes pre-order numbers very seriously, and depending on how many are pre-ordered they keep a certain number in stock, which helps for the success of the book tremendously.

I’ll be doing as much promotion as I can, hopefully with a virutal book tour and some copies available for review. If you have any other ideas how I can get the word out about this book and market and promote it, I’m open to brainstorming! What do you think? What would make you run out & buy it?

Event readings by authors from the book, yourself or other smutty sexy people.

  2. meridith says:

Make sure it’s published for the Kindle as well – I sent a request, but I’m more likely to buy it if I can read it electronically!

  3. Sinclair says:

Smutty readings, you bet! I know there is an annual event in NYC that Kathleen runs, but I’ll see what I can do about having other readings too.

Kindle edition, good idea! I will ask the publisher about that. I’d love to see it released digitally.

    Thank you, good ideas!

So I in part have you to thank for my story being a part of this latest edition! Thank you! I had no idea you were the guest editor this year! This just keeps getting better and better:)
Was wondering if you’ve ever done or would consider doing a book trailer for marketing purposes? It wouldn’t have to be anything crazy, maybe just you talking about some of the stories that stuck out to you or what BLE 2012 represents to you. It’s a valuable way to reach out to those who love to read but are also very auditory.

A book trailer is a GREAT idea. Rachel Kramer Bussel does them frequently and I bet it helps. I wonder if we could get some of the BLE authors this year to contribute a little snippet of themselves reading their piece, and I can stitch them together. Great idea, thanks!

  5. El Vagilante says:

Keep me updated, please! I would love to be a part of that project!

Just thought I’d let you know that I’ve pre-ordered this on the British Amazon site (I’m in the UK) and been given a delivery date of 17 August 2011, so it looks like its being released earlier here.

  7. I loved 11 so much, I was already planning on picking up 12, but I’m even more excited!

  8. I love the idea of a book trailer! Or how about a series of quotes put up in the weeks building up to the release…like foreplay? That would be a fun way to use a FB page or twitter feed.

  9. El Vagilante says:

I think that’s a great idea too rascalgrrl! Everyone likes to be teased a little. Pre-erotica foreplay would be fun.

so excited for this! i can’t wait to get my copy. and i think it’s awesome that you’re the guest editor! also, a book trailer sounds like a really good idea. :-)

  11. I never was a porn buyer, I’ve worked in a porn store, the typical ones with the lesbian porn in the “hetro” section however then I discovered the SF Porn scene, feminist porn, alternative porn and real dyke porn and just fell down the sapphictic rabbit hole. Keep up the good work ladies!

  12. Blue says:

    I am just so f*cking excited :D

  13. Kathleen says:

There will definitely be an e-book (and the last 2 editions are also available as e-books).

The December reading will be on Dec. 15, KGB Bar, 85 E. 4th St., NYC at 7pm. It’s annual Drunken! Careening! Writers! tradition (since 2004).

  14. guest says:

    my copy is pre-ordered… :-)

  15. Julia says:

Just wanted to add, I’m totally psyched about having a piece in BLE 12, and I’m ready to help with the hype however I can.
