“If you’re gonna write spicy, you need spicy ink!” Some Writing Spicy Art by @aluminumbrat

In one of the previous Writing Spicy groups, aluminumbrat illustrated this gorgeous lil piece of me adding peppers & eggplants to a blender and making fountain pen ink out of it.

aluminumbrat adds: “If you’re gonna write spicy, you need spicy ink! And you write *really* spicy so I thought jalapeño pepper ink would be the best for penning erotica. 🌶️🖊️💥”

So this time around, I reached out to them to see if I could commission them to make something quite similar, but maybe with different things going into the blender, like kink toys, or books — still with the peppers, of course.

They were game!

aluminumbrat adds: “You were very clear with the vision – an illustrator’s dream, honestly! 🙌 We knew books had to be there…the first sketches I did were of stacks of books and peppers! 📚”

We chatted a bit back & forth, and eventually they sent me this rough sketch / mockup:

Then I sent them some reference photos of fountain pen ink bottles, and books, and the Sugarbutch brand palette.

aluminumbrat: “It was very cool to see your fountain pen inks and fave kink books! 🩸 🖊️ The Sugarbutch brand palette is very timeless, kinda fancy/classy. So I added amber details in as a reference to whiskey 🥃”

They sent me back this sketch, to approve of the colors:

And then they got to work on the final pieces! They even posted a little video of painting the portrait of me

aluminumbrat: “The original illustration didn’t have your face in it, so it felt right to finally paint your portrait. 🎨”

I love them! Thanks so much!!

Aluminumbrat is available for commissions if you find yourself in need of some skillful art! Thank you!

aluminumbrat: “Thank you for working with me! I had a total blast and can’t wait for Writing Spicy to start. 👀 Also, regarding commissions: yes, I’ll draw almost anything for money. 🤧”
