The girls I’ve dated:
a girl: Ally - a Southern Femme in Tennessee that I’ve known online since before both of us came out; finally, both of us were single, and I visited here in the fall of 2006. I hear she’s now engaged!
a girl: Belle - skilled femme bottom who has started her own blog, Belle of the Ball
a girl: Callie - Callie & I dated for six months. Much of the archives are about me trying to figure out Callie’s psychology and our dynamic; once the relationship ended, I realized how damaging and manipulative she was being and I have since refused contact with her. It wasn’t all bad; she was the first serious femme bottom I dated and helped me develop my butch top identity to new places, and we had really great sex.
a girl: DateDyke - A smokin hot toppy switch from Seattle; we dated long distance.
a girl: Joy - hot, smart blonde I dated in the Summer of 2007.
a girl: Madeline - of Madeline in the Mirror; I have a crush on her and our paths occasionally cross.
a girl: Penny - a cute pixie femme who brings out the toppiness in me.
a girl: Red - a cute femme I had a few dates with in late 2007. Gorgeous green eyes, really great kisser.
a girl: The Ex - we were together in college & after, for four years, ended up in a Lesbian Bed Death situation when we moved from Seattle to New York City together, and broke up in the summer of 2006.
a girl: the Femme Top - dated briefly in Summer 2007; though she’s a top, we switched a bit. Most perfect breasts I’ve ever seen.
A few more characters who don’t have categories:
Bee - my sister and roommate, a few years younger than me. A nutritional counselor and personal trainer at a fancy gym, so I often refer to her in relation to that. She’s also infamous for her white wine sangria. Yum.
The Closet Musician Now known as Jesse James- one of my oldest, best friends in Seattle, who I initially met in a queer studies class. She plays guitar for some of my spoken word pieces and is an incredibly talented musician. Tons of insight, I occasionally write about our conversations. She blogs at Just Like Jesse James.
The Muse - my best friend here in New York City. Femme, so insightful, often blows my mind during our dates of prosecco-and-processing. She’s also a Sugarbutch Patron as she hooked me up with an amazing laptop on which most of Sugarbutch is written. She has her own Sugarbutch tag, and occasionally writes guest posts about her own sex & gender processes.
Writing categories:
Aspiring stud - musings about dating and my sex life, usually not related to a specific girl
Colophon - the term originally meant the bibliographic information printed at the end of a book, such as production information, often including typeface details and information related to any artwork. I use this category as a place to discuss things about this website.
Eye candy - photographs of butches, bois, studs, ags, drag kings, and generally anyone within the female masculinity quadrant of the gender galaxy.
Guest post - posts by writers other than me
Interviews - occasionally, I interview someone else, or am interviewed
Miscellany - stuff that doesn’t fit in another category. Often links or media
Omphaloskepsis - means “the contemplation of one’s navel,” and I use this category to work through random things, mostly about relationships and my own character, my baggage, my processes. Basically my personal journal entries.
Poetry - mine, and occasionally other people’s
PSA - Public Service Announcements
Reviews - books, films, music, sex toys
SSU - Sinclair Sexsmith University; often instructional posts about sex, gender, and relationships, including tips and how-tos.
Stories to turn you on - the best stories, either fiction or from my true sex life. (Browse this category for jack off material.)
Sugarbutch Star - a contest I ran in 2007 where readers submitted a scenario of characters, location, and plot, and I chose my favorites to type up into full stories. Eventually, when I finish the stories, readers will vote for their favorite and one submission will be called the Sugarbutch Star winner.
