cock confidence, reviews

Review: Silk

Nearly six months ago, Babeland sent me the Silk anal dildo by Tantus to review while I was collecting things for anal play, trying many options to see what Kristen and I would like. I had visions and fantasies of fucking her ass, strapped on, like I would her pussy, but see, sometimes fantasies don’t quite work in real life.

So, I have used this Silk cock once. No, maybe twice—before the night I had it strapped on, I think I had it out a few times, as an option, and once may have used it with my hand.

Gotta work up to things sometimes, ya know?

So I’ve been avoiding writing this review, thinking I needed more data, that I needed to use it a few more times, that I might have a hot story to share about it, eventually.

And it was hot—the once I used it—don’t get me wrong, but sometimes with something so new, the newness of the act distracts from the use of the toy and what that was like.

On one hand, I don’t have a lot of other toys to compare this to. I do still have the first cock I ever bought, a slim, hard black silicone one that I’m not sure is around anymore, and that is just about the right size for ass fucking, but it is awfully hard. You know that hard silicone that is so hard you can’t bend it, it doesn’t give at all? Even the silicone that is not Vixskin these days is not as hard as this first cock is.

The Silk is hard, too, but not that hard. It’s very, very smooth and, um, silky. Especially slick with some lube on it, which of course should always be used with anal play. It is so hard, though, that I’m not sure it’s great for anal play—it seems kind of pointy and pokey, and doesn’t give at all. (I have my eyes on a Spur as a replacement.)

At this point, six months later, I had to just give in a little and write up something, since now my not using it for so long is part of the review. It is a fine cock—good material, good shape, decent size for anal play, but nothing special, and not something I rush to use excitedly.

The Silk was sent to me from Babeland for review. Pick up other sex toys from Babeland, still my favorite feminist, queer, friendly, educational neighborhood sex shop.

I was looking at this just a couple of hours ago! Planning on using it for penetration (have never done penetration; wasn't really much of a fan) so we'll see how it goes!

This was my first toy :) I got the small because it was small enough for, um, me, and for some reason was extremely cheap on amazon the week I was looking for toys. It’s not my favorite anymore, but it was a nice introduction to dildos. Also nice since I’m not a fan of realistic toys. I’ve never used it for anal, though, honestly didn’t know that’s what it was for.

I liked Tantus stuff myself. The Bend Over Beginner kit is good and the harness fits me well, which is important, since I HAVE hips and a booty! Nice range of other toys to fit the harness too. This looks like what you get in the BOB kit, they're ok, but nothing special.

Hmmm, It looks like it would feel really good. I have a vibrating (plug?) and have had a strapon used on me once, but not ~there~…an anal specific one sounds interesting. looks like it would feel really good.

I have used the Silk medium on my boyfriend a number of times. It’s a nice toy that you don’t have to warm up too much before insertion (about two of my finger, I suppose would be one of a regular sized finger). It is firm. But it is flexible. I have noticed with Tantus toys they have two firm style toys one labeled Flexible and the other Firm. They’re both the same sort of density, but the Flexible is just that, more bendy and, well flexible. I have found it works just fine for anal usage. Firm enough for penetration yet flexible enough for comfort. Some examples of Tantus’s FIRM toys are the Echo, and Hank. They are FIRM though not rock hard as there is some flex and give; very little though. The Silk in my opinion has a nice amount of flex. Although in general we both prefer softer toys and I love Exotic-Erotics for their soft silicone and Bad Dragon (BD Firm silicone is as soft as Tantus’s outer layer on the 02 models! The soft is EXTREMELY soft and pliable if not a bit difficult for penetration). The Silk collection offers little in the way of sensation and depth play, being the perfect size, firmness/flexible for anal play; the only sensation is from the penetration/in and out movement. It lacks luster and fun. Absolute perfect for beginners to get used to butt sex or dildos in general. BTW, if you love skin like textures and softness check out Exotic Erotics, the texture on their toys is amazing and skin like you can get firm, medium, soft, split firmness (shaft med/soft with a firm/medium base etc.) and I also believe they have dual densities as well, but I believe that their soft silicone has the perfect amount of density to make the very soft silicone perfect for penetrative fun! They have a couple life cast cocks, fantasy sculpted toys and they also have life cast (shock!) animal dildos as well as sculpted ones. They also provide robot dildos and fantasy creature dildos, there is something for everyone at decent prices with AWESOME silicone that is not sticky like some of the softer silicones. Well, I apologize. This went from my basic experiences with the Tantus Silk to an add on my personal preferences. I do hope you find my thoughts helpful.
