give me a london girl every time

I heart Brooklyn Girls, the femme pin-up calendar, has definitely been making the rounds around my parts, but I hadn’t seen I Love LDN Girls calendar until just today. Honestly I wasn’t too impressed with this year’s BG calendar – last year’s was so gorgeous, perhaps I just had high hopes.

But, thank heavens, my queer pinup faith is renewed with the LDN Girls calendar. Plus, there are some gorgeous butch/femme photos, some androgyny, some femme/femme shots, all of which are really stunning photographs. I’m ordering mine now.

Hot! but um… more butches please.

  2. sinclair says:

somebody really should make a butch calendar. any photographers out there want to do it? I'll find some models!

  3. Rona says:

Oh yum. Especially July, but really all of it. Now to decide whether it’s worth breaking my “you are not allowed to by calendars” rule for or not.

  4. Jacket's girl says:

Well Sinclair – it sounds like you, of all people, would have a ready market for such an endeavor… potentially lucrative I'd imagine. It's about time we flip the objectification tables on y'all. Any other femmes with me on this one? (not that many of us don't just love to be objectified by our butches) I'm just sayin'…

  5. Sinclair says:

I'll think on that … Maybe I can get a "sugarbutch" calendar ready in time for 2009.

  6. muse says:

oh HELLS yes!! Jacket's girl, this is the best. idea. ever.

  7. saintchick says:

  8. muse says:

  9. Sinclair says:

JD from Le Tigre used to do a calendar … I don’t know if he still does though. still working on this idea!

  10. Hi. Two things. First, for the love of female masculinity, please create a butch pinup calendar for 2009. It will go on the wall behind my desk at home… or on the ceiling above my bed… or on my bathroom wall….. Second, I <3 the LDN girls – wow.

I agree that the london calendar is about a million times better than the brooklyn one. If we wanted girls in bikinis on beaches we'd just buy a straight calendar, right? Or maybe it's the fact that because the London calendar features couples it's more immediately identifiable as queer. Anyways. Point is, it's hot. (ps thanks for the tip-off, I'm going to post about this on my site and I'll link back to you)

[Hey! Thanks for the comment Milly – and for the link. I don't mind the girls in bikinis on the beach aspect of the I <3 Brooklyn Girls calendar at all, really, because they're all queer femmes, which is what is makes it inherently different than a straight calendar, to me. It's almost an ironic commentary on the typical bikini/beach straight calendars, even. My problem with it is that the photographs are completely unflattering. The light is awful, the shots are poorly framed and taken, and the photos are just not hot! I know some of those girls, and they are damn hot, but these photos do not do them justice at all. I think I prefer the solo-girl shots to the shots of the couples, probably because their attention is turned toward the camera/viewer (ahem, me) instead of to each other, and I find myself more engaged with them as a sexual object. But, that said – the photography, costumes, lighting, props, and concepts of that LDN Girls calendar is just so highly superior that there's no comparison! …. That's probably just me overthinking all of this, but that's my two cents :) – ss]</em>

Hey, Im from London and a Drag King. You will be pleased to know that I was recently contacted about making a I love LDN bois calender for 2009. I've a feeling it might be up your street.

[Oh, I'm thrilled to hear that! Though you may be competing with a Sugarbutch calendar in 2009, just to warn you. ;) – ss]
